MY RUTHIE

We were told that we had spent many lifetimes together, and I hope for more to come. It took us quite a while to find each other, my third marriage, Ruth's second.

We met in February, 1988, when I was living near Rhinebeck, NY. I had a little cabin in the woods where I planned to stay forever. Seven months later, I moved to St. Louis to live with Ruth. We took our honeymoon to France in November of '88, and then got married in March of '89. (Why get married and then find out on your honeymoon that you made a big mistake?)

My feelings are very deep for the great gift and rewards of our 18 years together. You'll have to wait for the memoir, however. Here I am just going to share some photos. Ruth had her own website, which I still keep available in her memory. www.1heart.com

Late 1960's, living in Chicago.

About this time Ruth took a trip around the world. She met a man in Lebanon whom she would marry. He moved to the US and operated a very successful Lebanese restaurant in St.Louis. He is a fine man and we all got along together very well. Ruthie had his gold wedding ring which we discovered fit me perfectly. You guessed it, we "recycled" it (asking permission). All the men married to Ruth wore that ring. Now both of our wedding rings are being re-cast into one new ring, with a labyrinth, which I will wear for the rest of my life.

This is the photo of Ruthie I still carry in my billfold, taken around the time we first met.
